These seemingly abstract art pictures are actually high-risk areas where landslides are hidden in the map of Washington state in the United States. As early as 2015, the U.S. Legislature commissioned the Washington Geological Survey's Natural Resources Department to begin this lidar mapping program, marking all landslide-prone areas in Washington State and drawing them publicly.

It is reported that the main purpose of this mapping plan is to use lidar technology to focus on the high-risk areas of landslides. Geologists have drawn these geological maps with different lidars to map landslide areas, volcanoes, glaciers, rivers, and Areas prone to tsunami floods are clearly shown.
