Professor Weiping Jiang, Director of the Satellite Navigation and Positioning Technology Research Center of Wuhan University, presided over the “Key Technologies and Applications of Satellite Geodesy for Marine Mapping and Inland Water Monitoring”, which won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. The significance is that ocean mapping is an important guarantee for safeguarding maritime rights and developing the marine economy. By obtaining accurate marine geospatial information data and providing marine, inland waters, and providing geographic information such as water, underwater and coastal, provides basic support information for the strategy of building a stong ocean country.
At that time, satellite geodesy technology, such as satellite altimetry, satellite gravity, satellite navigation and positioning, which can provide large-scale and all-weather observation data, opened a new era of observation and understanding of the ocean, which provided a technical solution for Jiang's research.
In view of the lack of marine geospatial information data in China, Jiang and the instructor Jingnan Liu and Academician Jian Li determined the specific content of the research:
*Establish a fine global average sea surface height model
*Global gravity field model of gravity field
*High resolution global seabed terrain model
*Seamless conversion model of ocean depth reference and land elevation reference
*A new method for creating satellite geodetic techniques to monitor inland waters
Five research work can be done by one person or one team. Therefore, the project teamed up with the Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Ocean Surveying and Mapping Institute, the People's Liberation Army Navy Dalian Ship Academy, and the National Surveying and Mapping Geographic Information Bureau Satellite Mapping Application Center. Under the guidance of Jinsheng Ning, the research was carried out.
In the past two decades, he and his team have created a system of multi-source altimetry data fine processing methods that integrates and deeply integrates. An autonomous geodetic gravity field inversion technology system was created, and a technical framework for determining and maintaining vertical datums in conjunction with multi-source satellites and ocean data was created. A new method for satellite geodetic techniques to monitor lakes and glacier ice sheets was proposed. Their research results are widely used at home and abroad, creating enormous economic and social benefits.
